We expect our Contractors and Suppliers to share this commitment and work alongside us in maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, quality and operational integrity. By working together, sharing knowledge and following internationally recognized industry standards, we can continue to strengthen safety performance throughout the offshore and maritime industry.
The following requirements and expectations apply to all Contractors, Suppliers and Sub-Contractors working for or on behalf of SeaMar:
HSE
Our goal is to have, sustainable operations, zero harm, zero incidents, zero spills and reducing emissions. Everyone working for SeaMar strives to achieve this goal each day.
We expect all Contractors to strive for these same goals.
We want to help improve safety performance throughout the industry and work in partnership with industry trade associations and professional bodies to share our safety experience, standards and knowledge with other Operators and Contractors.
Drug and Alcohol
SeaMar has a strict Drug and Alcohol policy and expects that all people entering SeaMar owned or managed vessels shall not be under influence of Drug or Alcohol.
Safety Management System
SeaMar expects every Contractor to have a safety management system that includes the following aspects:
- Effective risk assessment
- Control of work activities
- Management of change
- Incident investigation
- Environmental management
- Emergency response procedures
- Robust cyber security management or ISO 27001 certified
- Health risk assessments and monitoring
Recruitment, Training and Competence
SeaMar expects all Contractors that work on vessels to be appropriately screened, trained, competent and experienced for the tasks at hand, as per recognized industry standards for the agreed assignment. This should be inclusive of sub-Contractors.
Contractors sailing with a vessel shall have a valid BOSIET and an Offshore Medical Certificate.
The supplied personnel shall follow operating procedures that are similar to, or meet the internationally accepted standards such as ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO 45001.
Scope of Work
SeaMar will send a detailed scope of work to the Contractor before the Contractor comes on board to perform work. The Contractors shall ensure that the persons performing the work are familiar with the scope of work
Contractor Equipment
In case your company is required to use tools and / or equipment on vessels, your company is to ensure that the equipment is fit-for purpose, maintained to a documented standard with all the safety features intact. The maintenance history needs to be documented.
PPE Requirements
On board our vessels we require all Contractors to use the following PPE:
- One piece of coverall EN 340:2003 General requirements EN 1149-5:2008 Electrostatic Properties EN ISO 11612:2008 (A1, B1, C1, D0, E0, F1) Clothing to protect against heat and flame EN 471:2003 Specification for high visibility clothing.
- Safety shoes S3 above the ankle (basic requirements plus closed and energy absorbing seat region, antistatic, water penetration, absorption plus penetration resistance and cleated sole.
- Safety glasses.
- Gloves.
Participation in Onboard Safety
When a Contractor arrives at the vessel, he/she will be required to show identification for security purposes. The personal data will not be shared or made public.
Once the registration process is completed the onboard safety induction will commence. A crewmember will be assigned to accompany the Contractor during his/her stay onboard. The Contractor is required to participate in the onboard safety system.
Onboard HSE System
Contractors are required to actively participate in the onboard safety system. The onboard safety system consists of the following:
- Hazard observation
- Safety meeting
- Risk assessment and toolbox talk
- Permit to work system
- Waste management
Cyber Security
Contractors shall be aware that computers or remote storage devices may not be connected to the vessel’s network unless specifically approved. Contractors shall be familiarised with cyber security.
Contractors working on updates for software or hardware shall explain the update to the Master and the Electrician before starting work.
Contractor Collaboration
When required SeaMar will, on a case-by-case basis, develop plans for project or technical requirements together with the Contractor.
The above requirements will be checked, explained and enforced when entering a vessel, in line with the Visitor and Contractor Management procedure.
Delivering Parts
When parts are to be delivered the sender should try and reduce the use of single use plastics and ship as many parts in one shipment as possible to save on emissions.
If parts are marked as part of the International Hazard Materials (EU Ship Recycling Regulation or Hong Kong Convention) then a Material Declaration and a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) shall be sent electronically.
