A significant milestone was reached when Eni Energy Netherlands BV awarded SeaMar with a new long-term contract for the Diving Support Vessel SeaMar Splendid. As part of the new charter, the vessel will undergo a comprehensive upgrade program to enhance the vessel’s performance, sustainability profile and onboard living conditions.

Building on the successful management of two vessels within our client’s fleet, our partnership further expanded with the award of a contract for the management of a third vessel. They brought their DP2 Integrated Geotechnical Survey Vessel, specialized in deep-push cone penetration testing, under our care.

To strengthen and streamline our operations, we consolidated our guard vessel assets within the Shipping Department. This strategic step also included the closure of Alaborg Offshore Services BV, allowing us to focus our resources more effectively within the group.

After careful consideration an emotional decision was made to say farewell to our Offshore Support Vessel the Deep Helder after 10 succesful years. It was with pain in our hart as the vessel and team left an incredible mark on our history and we will always carry the pride of their contributions with us.

Mid-year, SeaMar secured a 1-year full vessel management contract for an Offshore Support Vessel, providing end-to-end support in procurement, QHSE, technical management, and crewing.

Following a successful year of vessel management, we were awarded the full management of an additional DP2 Multi Purpose Support Vessel within our client’s fleet. With the vessels deployed worldwide for offshore geotechnical site investigations, our teams provide global support.

What started at the beginning of the year as a contract for the management of ISM, ISPS and MLC compliance, combined with procurement support, expanded steadily into full vessel management agreement of a DP2 Integrated Geophysical Survey Vessel for a blue chip client in the offshore industry.

After consideration, SeaMar sold the guard vessel Alaborg as part of the ongoing strategy to maintain a modern, future-ready fleet. While the vessel served our operations well over the years, it no longer aligned with the operational requirements and standards we are setting for the future of our services.

To strengthen and expand their role as Maritime Service Provider, SeaMar acquires Van Erp Safety Services, a company specialized in the service, installation and supply of firefighting and life-saving equipment for the maritime, offshore and onshore industries.

At the end of 2023 Neptune Energy Netherlands BV awards SeaMar with a new contract for the DSV SeaMar Splendid. The agreement is for 1 year firm and 1 year option. The contract underscores our focus on delivering exceptional vessel services to our clients. With the contract staring in 2024, it will be the 16th consecutive year in a row that the vessel is deployed on Neptune’s Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) campaigns on the Dutch Continental Shelf.

This year does not only mark SeaMar’s 22nd anniversary, but also a family anniversary. After two decades, Leo Balkema steps down and his son Rory Balkema takes over the role as Managing Director of SeaMar. Leo remains active as advisor en shareholder to SeaMar.

Our commitment to maintain long-term working relationships with our Clients is testamented when Neptune Energy Netherlands BV awards SeaMar with the third consecutive long-term contract for the charter of the SeaMar Splendid.

The 1st of January does not only mark the start of a new year, but also the start of a new contract for the charter of the MV Deep Helder awarded by MMT for 2 years fixed and 1 year option.

A milestone worth celebrating, the 1st October 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of SeaMar’s founding!

MMT awards SeaMar with a 6 month contract for the MV Deep Helder. The vessel goes to the US East Coast to support wind park development projects.

After already having a partial interest in Alaborg Offshore Services BV, SeaMar acquires the remaining shares and takes on full management of the company to optimize and strengthen its guard vessel services.

With honor SeaMar receives the title “Entrepreneur of the year 2019” from the HOV in Den Helder.

The 51% stake in SeaMar are bought back from KVSA. Moving forward, the companies will go their separate ways to target their individual business strategies.

SeaMar enters into the third long-term contract with Neptune Energy Netherlands BV for a 3 year charter with 2 year options of the MV SeaMar Splendid.

The Port of Den Helder and the Den Helder Shipping Association elect Leo Balkema as “Harbor Man” of the year.

Following a succesful launch and Christening the multi purpose offshore support vessel MV Deep Helder was delivered to DeepOcean BV on a 5 year contract to support their survey operations in the oil & gas and renewable energy market.

The three year contract starts with Client Acta Marine BV for the management of their brand new Walk to Work vessel Acta Orion.

SeaMar signs a contract with shipyard De Hoop for the new built vessel MV Deep Helder, a 65 m long DP2 class & 4point mooring vessel, designed for low fuel consumption, clean ship/green passport/SPS2008 and high comfort class notation (Comf1).

The SeaMar Splendid undergoes a major conversion of deck, hold and accomodation after which a 6 year contract is secured with GDF Suez BV for Inspection, Maintenance and Repair on the Dutch Continental Shelf.

The MV Alcedo is added to the Alaborg Offshore Services BV guard vessel fleet, to meet the growing demand for guard vessels by our Clients.

To realize commercial synergies, share knowledge, gain strenght and expertise, KVSA takes 51% stake in SeaMar.

2009

 

The MV SeaMar Splendid is added to the fleet. After a brief make-over, the vessel is contracted for three years by GDF Suez BV for Inspection, Mainteance and Repair campaigns on the Dutch Continental Shelf.

2008

 

With the growing development of offshore wind parks, the demand for guard vessels is increasing. Alaborg Offshore Services BV purchases the MV Pelican I to provide guard and chase duties.

2007

 

After getting the request; “Can you supply guard vessels”? SeaMar establishes the company Alaborg Offshore Services BV together with 2 partners and purchases the guard vessel MV Alaborg.

2006

 

After completing a geotechnical project in Brazil, SeaMar sells the MV Inspector in 2006. For 5 years, the vessel was operational in the southern sector of the North Sea, Gabon and most of the West African countries including Angola, Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa.

2003

 

With the teams expanding and the growing logistic support, the SeaMar moves into the new built offices and warehouses at “Het Nieuwe Werk” in Den Helder.

2002

 

SeaMar secures a complete vessel management contract with Fugro for the STM Markab covering a period of four years.

2001

 

SeaMar purchases the 4 point mooring air diving / survey support vessel MV Inspector and establishes the company SeaMar Shipping BV to expand the SeaMar service package with shipping services.

2000

 

With having more than a quarter of a century experience in the sector, Leo Balkema establishes SeaMar Services BV to provide vessel management and ship’s agency services to the offshore and shipping industry.
